Rules

>General<

  • The group is 20+. Only applicants of 20+ will be permitted to join. Lying about your age to gain entry to the group will result in instant removal.

  • Treat everyone in the group with respect. If an issue arises between yourself and another member, notify the mods and the matter will be investigated and sorted from there. If you have an issue you'd like to submit anonymously, we have a form where you can do so here.

  • Activity checks are held every 4 months. At least one piece must be submitted between this time frame in order to count towards your activity check. You can always view the countdown to the next activity check on the website's homepage. Reminders will also be posted in the group's discord server.

  • If you are unable, for whatever reason, to complete the current activity check, you can reach out to a mod to be excused. Exceptions will be granted with good reason but do not take advantage of this as a method of avoiding activity checks.

  • Activity checks pertain to members, not characters. You do not have to submit a piece for each character in order to count towards your activity check. If a character is inactive for an entire year, however, they will be removed from the group. If you/your character have been removed from the group due to inactivity, you can reapply after the following activity check and resume with your old character(s).

  • Overall, The Opened Way strives to create a fun community based on collaboration, safety, communication, creativity, and growth. These values are something the mod team holds in high regard and something that we look for in our members, as well. 

>Roleplay<

  • Do not god mod, power play, metagame, etc. Communicate with your RP partner to make sure everything goes as planned and ensure everyone is on the same page.

  • Do not attempt to engage RPers in scenarios they are not comfortable with. Do not RP potentially sensitive themes in public chat rooms and tag mature/sensitive content appropriately when posting. Do not post sexual content to TOW.

  • Any member is free to RP appropriate themes in the public chatrooms. Please make sure to mark RPs as finished when they have been completed so that the RP channels can continue to be used. If a RP has gone unfinished for a while and other members desire the RP room in which it is hosted, please reach out to a mod and they'll look into it.

  • In addition to tagging potentially sensitive themes on completed RPs, please also include at least one generalized 'genre' on the finished work; such as tragedy, comedy, drama, romance, slice of life, etc. This makes it easier for readers to know what tone they are in for when reading the work and allows them to avoid certain topics/themes if they so choose.

>Artwork<

  • No bases or templates are permitted. Only post your own art and share art that you have permission to use. 

  • Digital and traditional art are both accepted. Make sure scans/photos of traditional art are of good quality and easy to see/read.

  • Upload art to the correct destination, folder, channel, etc. Please refrain from spamming many WIPs of the same project.

  • Tag mature/sensitive content appropriately. This includes gore/violence as well as potentially triggering themes. We do not allow sexual content in TOW.

>Discord<

  • A discord account is mandatory to join the group. It is the primary method of communication between members and mods and will be the location for many group events and mechanics.

  • Swearing is allowed but the use of slurs, derogatory terms, offensive language, and other hate speech will not be tolerated.

  • Please keep conversation topics in the channels that they correspond to. Try to avoid general spam. 

  • Please keep "venting" to a minimum. If you post anything of this nature, keep it short, keep it vague, and contained only to the #spam channel.

  • Please be sure to fill out your intro in the #introductions channel in order to gain full access to the server upon your application's approval.

  • Please do not advertise other groups or servers in any of the TOW server's channels. Thank you!
